In order to get iTunes to actually store it's XML file on the
SlimServer, I had to fake it out by telling Windows XP to actually place
my "My Music" folder on the server. This can be done through the use of
the Microsoft TweakUI Powertoy. Obviously this may not be practical if
there is other stuff that you use your "My Music" folder for, but in my
case, the only thing in there was the iTunes directory.

Prior to this, I was manually exporting the XML file to the SlimServer,
which worked just as well, but wasn't as practical since it required a
manual export each time I updated my library.

In terms of the library information itself, I originally had some
problems within missing entries and duplicate entries, and there were
two things that I had to do before it worked properly... The first was
to remove the "Music Folder" path under the SlimServer "Server Settings"
option. After this was done, I did a complete cache wipe (found under
"Performance" in the Server Settings).

One of the really cool things about this is that I had created a couple
of new playlists on my iPod. I went into my home office, dropped the
iPod into the dock, and by the time I got to the living room, my two new
playlists were available through my SB.

I'm having the same problem.
I copied all my music to the linux box, including the iTunes folder.
slimserver seems to be using the iTunes folder on the linux box,
but iTunes updates the xml in the local directory (/My Documents/My
Music/iTunes)

(curiously, if I copy the xml file from the local to unix drive,
slimserver seems to pick up the sum of the two files)

Did you ever get this resolved?

thanks for the tip.
I tried removing the "music folder" path, but slim couldn't find any files!. I had to put the path back in. It is scanning now...

Do I have to consolidate the music?
