Hi--

I have what I hope is a simple question--does SlimServer update the ID3 PCNT (Play Count) tag when it plays a file?

Is there a better/different way to synchronize play counts across multiple playing options?

Thanks.

Most definitely not.

I had a similar question a while back, and it seems that there is a very
large portion of Slim users, who are uncomfortable with the idea that
the slimserver would open their mp3 files for reading (as needed for
updates).

I tend to be on their side as well, however certain off-line tool
solution would be A-OK with me. This would take a slimserver produced
"log" file and update the mp3s to include the information gained from
the "log" files, in batch mode... Meantime the server can use the same
(yet unprocessed) log file to dynamically include the info (ie. take the
playcount fro mthe mp3 file, and add it to the playcount glimpsed from
the "log" file and display it on the slim, as the current playcount)
