Since I learned that I can backversion within the 2x firmware, I got the
complete cvs tree and fired it up.

Starting it by hand works fine, i.e.
while root, in the suitable directory, etc.

But if I make a suitable link it doesn't start.
Here is a 'll' of the link

[root@beatles slimserver]# pwd
[root@beatles slimserver]# ll
total 496
drwxrwxr-x 8 slimserver users 4096 Feb 21 01:50 Bin
-rwxr-xr-x 1 slimserver users 22656 Jun 14 16:12 slimserver.pl
-rw-r--r-- 1 slimserver users 260812 Jun 5 18:00 strings.txt
-rw-rw-r-- 1 slimserver users 2603 May 18 20:26 types.conf

[with lots of extra lines elided]

The error is
root@beatles slimserver]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/slimserver start
Starting SlimServer: su: warning: cannot change directory to
/usr/local/slimserver: Permission denied
-bash: /usr/local/slimserver/.bash_profile: Permission denied
-bash: line 1: /usr/local/slimserver/slimserver.pl: Permission denied

I remember seeing mentions of this on the list before.
Am I doing something wrong? it is a known buglette (not important at all
for 5.2 rollout). etc.?
