I've been trying to figure out why our local NPR station sounds like Donald Duck.... The stream below plays fine on my computer but when I stream it through Squeezeserver it really sounds like Donald Duck.

Can someone please either verify that it's a bug in Squeeze* or that it's something in my setup?

It plays correctly for me.

Did you modify your Touch (if your Squeezebox is a Touch) , or are you running official firmware?

I have no idea why it's doing it; all other stations work fine. And if I use mplayer with cache, it works fine too. AFAICT it only happens for 80Kbps streams (and possibly for 64 Kbps streams too.) 128Kbps streams are OK.

IIRC Squeezeslave used to have problems with non 44.1Khz streams.

Your stream is a 32kHz stream.

To confirm this - can you play this 32kb/s 32kHz stream http://somafm.com/wma/groovesalad.asx
Whereas this 128kbps is 44.1Khz http://somafm.com/wma128/groovesalad.asx and should play OK

How does this 48Khz stream sound fast/slow/normal ?http://shoutcast.gmgradio.com:10103

Will not play at all. Runs for a second or two and then resets to 0 and stops. Similar behavior as on some of the pre-recorded NPR shows using the NPR plugin.

Plays fine.

Plays fine also.

Any way to convert all streams to 44.1 Khz? I have Lame installed but I'm not really sure how to use it with Squeeze Server / Slave.

Forgot it was a WMA stream. Squeezeslave does not support WMA so you need WMA transcoding which is only part of LMS on Windows. For Linux you need to install PlayWMA plugin and the command line version of mplayer.

I suggest posting to the Squeezeslave thread - ralphy should be able to giove you advice. See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?93607-ANNOUNCE-Squeezeslave-1-2-released
