Hello all,

I have been looking for a way to get the audio of movies i watch on my pc to play out of the speakers of my stereo. I have a duet and is working good for us!

I have found the following instructions but they are for an older version of VLC player and since i am not a wiz kid i am having troubles getting it all set-up. I do grasp the principal.

Can somebody tell tell me how to do this or point me in the right direction?

That's a very old post regarding VLC - the following is a more recent one http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?93587

However using VLC to stream audio you will have a lag of at least 1 sec between video and audio from SB.
You would get a shorter delay (e.g. 0.5 sec) using a WaveInput plugin but there may not be a version for your server.
Because audio will travel though network and get buffered and hence have a delay compared to video and so movie will not be watchable unless you use a 3rd party player which can adjust audio/video timing. You would then need to delve into arcane settings and even then audio/video sync is a bit of pot luck.

I suggest not wasting any more time on trying to do this.

Actually, if the delay is consistent, you can do it...
You can delay (or speed up) the audio Vs the movie on VLC.

"ctrl+k" audio delay up and "ctrl+l" audio delay down in VLC. (You can have a negative audio delay)
edit: with later versions of VLC, it's simply "k" or "j" without "Ctrl"

This can be done on the fly.
