Why not? I have upgraded firmware quite a lot of times and until now I never
had any problem on my wireless ..

Here's what the Slim FAQ says:

"I'm having trouble upgrading the firmware on my SLIMP3 Player. Do you have
any hints?
Try following these steps:

1.. Plug the SLIMP3 device and the computer with the updater into the same
hub or switch. (Do not attempt to upgrade your firmware over a wireless
network.) Power the hub or switch off and then back on. "
And all the wireless devices I've ever bought have always said to set them
up and/or upgrade firmware when they are plugged into the hub. I presume
that they are just trying to avoid an obvious source of problems..sort of
belt and suspenders. It may be a pain, but I do it.
