View Full Version : SqueezeBox Transmission Power & Linksys Bridge Setup ?

Question 1 - What's the Wireless SqueezeBox transmission power? And what's
the gain of the SqueezeBox Antenna?

Question 2 - I already have a Linksys WRT54G. I'm deciding between a wireless
SB (relegating to 802.11b) or a wired SqueezeBox with a WAP54G running in AP
(Access Point) Client mode. That way I keep 802.11g and WPA. Anyone running
a similar setup with insights / suggestions / cautions?

Any and all help appreciated. Stephen

I haven't heard from anyone or found anything through searches. How about
others with a similar setup w/ different brands?

Stephen,

Just got a wired squeezebox and intend setting up this weekend with a D-Link
DWL-G820 to connect with my D-Link DWl-G700AP which is already running on my
network. Tried to congfig the G820 attached to a pc, prior to Squeezebox hookup.
Will post any feedback here.
Anyone else have any input re this D-link setup?

I also have the wired squeezebox, and just finished setting it up on my
wireless network. Wireless router is the Linksys WRT54G, and I bought a
Netgear WGE101 Wireless Network Bridge (802.11b or g, I'm using g) to
run the squeezebox.

Out of the box the WGE101 has no security set, and its default IP didn't
match my network, so I had to hook it up to a PC to configure it. Easy
enough, using the configuration program supplied on the CD, although the
only security mode is WEP. With that configured and the WGE101 assigned
to a fixed IP, the squeezebox (also with a fixed IP) plugged in and
worked right away.

Checked my G820 config last night, worked once I cycled the power on the AP,
If in doubt reboot :)
Hooked up the Squeezebox to the G820, turned the power on.
Selected obtain IP,
Found the slimserver and off we went.
Happily streaming my music and radio on wireless g :)

This way too coooool :)
