Dear Rod,
No laptop - two desktops. Using D-Link kit throughout.
I have tried swapping the box over to the other PC - which is running SP2.
Tried over the Whiffy and the hesitations have stopped. But then, so does
the music. If I try to use the PC to print or copy big files - in fact any
activity that uses a bit of grunt - I get 4-5 second silent gaps in the play
back every 15-20 secs.
Tried plugging it into the PC via cable and it started off OK. Tried to
copy some files and the player just stopped. The display still said it was
playing as did the server - but no sound.
So I stopped playback and restarted the song. It then played OK. I again
started copying some large files again and it seemed to be OK. Then it
stopped playing again - same scenario.

Best wishes,

Neil,

Do you use anything else with your wireless network? A laptop, for example?
(Basically I'm wondering if your wireless network works flawlessly with
other devices.)

What WiFi bridge are you using?

Does it make a difference if the WiFi bridge is placed in very close
proximity to the WAP?

If you have a notebook with a WiFi card, have you tried running Netstumbler
to see the signal/noise ratio when you're out by the SLIMP3?

And to rule out any problems with the server software or SLIMP3 hardware
itself: have you tried running a long Ethernet cable just to test that it
works ok?

-Rod
