Ya, I think we all have the same problems. I reported this for a while and
eventually just sort of gave up on there ever being a satisfactory solution.
My units are far enough apart that synch is tolerable for periods of time
when I will be moving from one part of the house to another, but eventually
they do get rather out of synch with each other.

Is it working any better if both units are Squeezeboxes? This might be
enough of a reason for me to sell my Slim and get a 2nd Squeezebox.

I have a Squeezbox attached to a stereo system via fiber and in another room
a SLIMP3 attached via RCA plugs. At times if you sychronize the two units
the Squeezebox is up to 5 seconds ahead of the SLIMP3.

Is there a fix for this?

I have found the sync to be fine, IF you stop both players then start playing
again. If you sync while playing, and the song restarts as it is supposed to,
the timing is always a bit off. press and hold pause, then press play and it is
fine

that's just my experience. it seems to work ok when I test it, and I tend to
play only about 3 or 4 songs. the songs after the initial one might be off by
a fraction of a beat, but certainly not seconds.
