Greetings to all

This morning for reasons I cannot recall I decided to take the plunge and install 7.1.1 (my latest version was 7.5.4 or so)

Intall ok, BUT it produced no songs at all (library is around 10000) and so when I then tried the various re-scan options it seems to stick on the first song of my library (which is fully titled 01 American Boy.wma if relevant) and does not produce any further tracks.

My music is on an external drive (K drive as my PC reads it) and the scanning info on screen is shown below:

Discovering files/directories: K: (1) Running 00:48:53

K:\01 American Boy.wma

I have re-installed 7.7.1 several times, but same issue always happens

Same thing also happens if I try to rescan via the Control panel

Much appreciate any assistance - have been running SB for 3 yrs and this is my first problem!

Thanks

server.log and scanner.log ? Do they tell anything .
does it works if you use "Music Folder" .

did lms retained it settings, basic settings music folder ? Untick everything but music do not include pictures or video for the music library.

Try unc path instead of drive letter ? Is this a network share or an USB drive

Thanks for your guidance

Have selected only music -
Server notepad has this, amongst others:

Ok the log links are path to complete files you can zip and attach to here or in a suportcase or bug .

complete scanner.log and complete server.log

Does it ever reports that it is finished when you start a scan is it aborted ?

If not can you abort and run another clear and rescan everything ?

Run without plugins ? add plugins one at the time ?

If all else fail just nuke the whole cache folder .

Or just delete absolutely everything and go from the beginning :-/

Autorescan does not work anymore did you use it 7.5.4 ?

Thanks for the feedback

Can't seem to clear the cache folder, but re one of your questions - yes when I try to re-scan everything the scan does get aborted -

Scanner log comments below:

[11-12-18 13:40:12.4571] main::main (200) Starting Logitech Media Server scanner (v7.7.1, r33750, Mon Dec 12 09:42:47 PST 2011) perl 5.014001
[11-12-18 13:40:19.6252] Slim::Music::Import::runImporter (485) Starting Slim::Media::MediaFolderScan scan
[11-12-18 13:40:19.6258] Slim::Utils::Scanner::Local::rescan (171) Discovering audio files in K:
[11-12-18 13:40:19.9320] Slim::Utils::SQLiteHelper::updateProgress (405) Warning: Server aborted scan, shutting down

I am now officially lost re next steps!!

oops clearing out the cache you probably have to stopp the server before doing that ?

Clearing cache via the Control Panel does (should) stop LMS server first before completing the task.

If you want better logs you should use the web-UI settings > advance > logging

And crank up the log levels for the scanner and the artwork handling .

Also check that no rouge lms/sbs process is till running, some crashes can make the scanner run by itself so worth checking with the task manager .

Yesterday all was ok - and scanning was incredibly fast, but the below error message seems to pop up regularly during the scanning process (and also today when the LMS was starting up:

'there is no disk in the drive. please insert a disk into drive\device\ harddisk1\ dr1' Abort / Retry / Continue

Pressing continue repeatedly seems to get rid of the messages sometimes, but I did not get this message until installing 7.1

Any thoughts - and thanks again for all your responses

very likely a playlist refering to a drive that's no longer mounted, or a shortcut leading to nowhere/unmounted drive.

Ok, thanks

Just after I posted I attempted a re-scan that has got stuck on the first track again - opening server notes below:

[11-12-20 05:06:40.1868] main::init (354) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.7.1, r33750, Mon Dec 12 09:42:47 PST 2011) perl 5.014001

The item
Warning: [05:06:49.0319] defined(@array) is deprecated at

then gets repeated hundreds of times...

sugest that you unistall the find art plugin then.

Still plugging away here, have un-installed re-installed etc, deleted a rogue playlist that was causing problems, but on requesting re-scan it is still getting stuck on the first track - latest error on the scanner log is

[11-12-21 05:33:08.0012] main::main (340) Error: Failed when running main scan: [K:\a55b8a8c59f49d317093d465b07c: Invalid argument at /<C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\scanner.exe>File/Next.pm line 217.

I have removed practically all plug-ins

Any further thoughts / advice -
( I am also still getting the error message 'there is no disk in the drive. please insert a disk into drive\device\ harddisk1\ dr1' Abort / Retry / Continue. although less often now)

Thanks to all as ever

Thanks for any assistance
