Thanks for the suggestion Greg!

But my folders are correctly specified in the server setup (case sensitivities included!)
The problem is still there but thankfully it doesn't prevent the use of the squeezebox at all, though it is still annoying!!!
Any other ideas, anyone?

Nic

Nic,

Is the folder really "my music" or "My Music", I had the same problem with moodlogic and found that if I changed the music folder setting to be the same case of the folder, things worked as expected.

I have tried all that I can think of; moved playlists to a different directory completely, changed music folders (with less in), specified manually the whereabouts of the itunes.xml file and music folder. But still it happens.

I realised that the "history" and "MAC address of squeezebox" playlist files were at that location and these were being included in the song count.... pointing the music folder section to >my music/itunes/itunes music - solved the problem!!

This way you can either narrow it to or eliminate playlists as the culprit. Also, if you have a music folder setting, try setting that blank if you are using iTunes. Another idea is to keep your music folder and playlists folder separate.

Hi,

I am seing this problem as well. After ripping some more CD's a few days ago,
I did a rescan of my library and found 2399 songs which matches exactly the
content of my iTunes library. Then I didn't touch the server anymore for
several days, yesterday while listenig music and browsing thru genres on one
SB I noticed that I had a "no genre" entry... it was not there before, I found
in this folder songs that are normally in other folders (note that I did not
listen to these songs recently). I went to the server... and the server
declared 2448 songs (and indeed a "no genre" entry). I forced a rescan on the
server it is now back to 2399. I am using the 5.3.1 from 24th of September.

I've been reporting "no genre" entries for a while. These seem linked to
Playlist entries and also Moodlogic. Try clearing the playlist dir setting,
also turn off Moodlogic and iTunes and see if your counts stay stable.

Perhaps a stupid question: what is Moodlogic, I am not using it and I don't
find it in the slimserver settings.

I've just cleaned the playlist folder entry, I'll see if it fixes the song
counts will remain stable now.

MoodLogic is a song management program that is supported by slimserser. it can
create playlists based on profiles of songs, which include mood-based
parameters.

It relies on having all your songs profiled. Unprofiled songs will show up in
slimserver in the same way a song with no tags will show up: 'no genre', 'no
artist', etc

Thanks, as I am not using it, this could not be the cause of my problem, I just
removed the playlist folder from the server settings and after several hours of
playback with the SB, the song count is still correct... Note that I am using
iTunes.

The counted increased again... went from 2399 to 2411 so it was not the
playlist. I am now disabling the "use itunes" to see if it changes anything.
