Turns out that if I start SecuRemote after SlimServer, it works fine to the
"real" SqueezeBox.

But, SoftSqueeze doesn't work as well. If I kill SecuRemote and start an
album with SoftSqueeze, the whole album will play even when SecuRemote is
restarted, but it fails when SecuRemote is running with:

82388 [SlimTCP] ERROR com.slim.softsqueeze.Player - Stream io exception

What I'm trying to understand is what exactly SecuRemote is preventing so
that I can try to find a workaround. Is it basically preventing access to a
certain port, or what? I really hope I can get around this. Every computer
in the house runs SecuRemote.

Thanks in advance!

Wow, you're right on. I've discovered that when SecuRemote is running (which
gives me connectivity to work from my home office) that SlimServer will not
start. So, does anyone know how to get around that besides killing
SecuRemote?

If you have a firewall, try turning that off to see if the console starts..
