View Full Version : Squeezebox and WEP with SMC Barricade

2004-10-15, 08:55
Hi James,

Thanks for the info. I tried playing with this for several hours
last night and still no luck. My version of the 2804WBR is a
different part number from yours based on the firmware version you
are running. SMC lists two sets of firmware on their web site
based on the part no. At any rate -- I cannot figure out any way
to get my 2804 to run in pre-shared key mode that does not involve
WPA. If I tell the Squeezebox that their is no encryption then it
can find the wireless network but cannot pass data (expected for
an "open" mode system ).

I hope that they will provide an update to the Squeezebox that will
allow it to work in an "Open" system WEP environment OR provide
WPA support. I have seen both items talked about in the discussion
archives. Hey guys -- any ETA on these features? I have to
believe that enabling "open" mode support would not be too

BTW: My SMC 2804WBR firmware version is V1.11a

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
