Should the Slim cache be reading and storing details of non music files. In the debug logs and in the slimserver.db cache file I can see .ini and ..dat files?

It does iterate over all the files in the directory, and does cache
directory contents, but does not cache information about specific
files, as far as I know.

This could probably be optimized a bit. Is there a problem that you
seeing?

it does seem to cache the basic entries, CT, VALID, TITLE and TTL.

I can't see that removeing anything save for TITLE would optimise anything very
much. Maybe if you decide that if CT = unk, that you dont scan. However, that
might cause other problems where you ignore something that might have been
mistakenly marked as unk, but becomes known later (like some alternate audio
types). You'd have to force a wipe cache if you change types.conf. I any
case, once its completed scanning, the time wasted going back over these files
is minimal and the memory usage for each is tiny.

To hammer home a point that is rapidly getting clicheed, SQL will can allow the
removal of this stuff.
