I just ripped this album with the latest EAC. The wrong date was inserted from the CDDB. I went back and fixed it with foobar. The change, however doesn't show up in Version: 7.6.1 - r33110.

Here's what squeezebox shows me.

mp3tag does not show me the field "TDRC" to fix - even in the extended view. How do I edit this field?

You have ID3 tags in your FLAC files, most editors won't let you modify those, but I think they will let you remove them.

Why does Squeezebox Server read ID3 tags in Flac files?

Thanks. I had to delete the tags using foobar and then redo them. I'm surprised mp3tag doesn't read/edit them.

You don't want to just remove the ID3 fields (or "frames"), you want to remove the whole ID3 tag. You can do this very easily with Mp3tag by cutting and then immediately pasting the tags (Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V). All tags will be removed, but the ID3 tag will not be rewritten when you paste.

And if you haven't already done so, make sure you also configure EAC to not add ID3 tags when you rip Flac files.

I originally left ID3 support out when FLAC moved to Audio::Scan, but there were a lot of angry people who I believe use ID3 mostly for FLAC artwork. These files were tagged before FLAC supported artwork natively.

i believe SBS should support id3 in FLAC, (as legacy support) but i also believe anyone reading this or any tag editor should properly clean up their files, since there no longer is a reason to have id3 in FLAC. i strip any id3s from my flacs.

in EAC, make sure your FLAC config has turned off insert id3 tags.

also, there are many year frames in id3, so you have to be sure which frame is used/edited.
