With MacPro, OS 10.7. SS ver 7.6. iTunes 10.4
I have two SBs, one SB3 connected by wireless. One SB2 connected by ethernet.
SB3 can access playlists. SB2 cannot
Have upgraded firmware.
Any ideas most welcome

I forgot to add that the entire music library has been rescanned. And "playlists" does show in the menu selection panel in the SB preferences. It just will not show on the SB menu panel itself. Random Mix does, and works. Most odd.

Same here. Just updated firmware and rescan has gone really slow plus all my playlists have gone! Doh!

I am glad I am not alone. I have tried everything. Selected various locations for the playlists..the same folder as the music location is supposed to be the right one. Have rescanned. Have upgraded software. Have switched to a different Mac with same prefs. No go.

But playlists does not show in the menu items list for the SB2 player.

Is it iTunes playlists that doesn't show up ?
There is a bug about that:
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17394
Vote on it if you like to get a notification when someone solves it.

If the problem is related to other type of playlists, have you tried latest nightly 7.6.1 beta where a lot of problems have been corrected ?
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.6

If 7.6.1 doesn't solve it, have you looked in the scanner.log file to see if there are any errors ? (You will find its location in SBS Settings/Advanced/Logging)

Hi Erland

I have reinstalled 7.6.1 as advised however still no playlists?

When I check scanner log file I see a long list all with error showing against each item. Note that all my music is available as well as artwork so I am a bit confused.

I have the same or at least a similar problem. My playlists will not play on my Classic nor Booms via the remote control (an error message scrolls across the screen reads "Cannot request non-HTTP URL file . . ."). Yet, I can access and play my playlists via the web interface. Any ideas or thoughts?

This is definitely not itunes related.

If you post the complete error message in scanner.log it's a bit easier to help.
Also combine this with how the corresponding line in the playlist file looks like if you open it with a text editor.
And check if the path in the playlist file matches where the physical file is stored.

Hi erland

Not sure how I do these things ie 'post the complete error message in scanner.log' and 'combine this with how the corresponding line in the playlist file looks like if you open it with a text editor'. I can confirm that the path in the playlist file matches where the physical file is stored. Also this is not itunes related as all my music is in FLAC format having ripped all my music using dbpoweramp.

Can't you just copy and paste some of the error messages from the scanner.log file as a post in the forum ?
Or attach the complete scanner.log with the forum post with the "Manage Attachments" button ?

OK here it is, but note that error is stated on the dropdown next to each item (it won't show when I cut and paste....

that's the settings page, not the log. where it has this:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Squeezebox\Logs\scanner.log (100, 500, 1000 lines)

click on the, say, 500 and then you'll see the log. Save this to a txt file then attach to a response here (use manage attachments in the reply mode).

Hi Garym. This route takes me to a scanner text folder with no ref to 100, 500, 1000 lines?

Hi Garym. This route takes me to a scanner text folder with no ref to 100, 500, 1000 lines?

are you on the SBS, Settings, then "INFORMATION" tab, toward bottom of the page? If I click on 500 from that location (in the scanner log), I get the last 500 lines of my scanner log, as a text file.

Back to my original post, with thanks for help.
Have installed SS 7.6.1 and rescanned everything. SB2 still will not find play lists.

Hi Grahamlacey. I feel that I may have hijacked your original post which was not intended. I am having same problems as you so hoped that responses may help us both. Its very frustrating and I am assuming at this stage I may have to just bite the bullet and start making playlists again from scratch!

Back to my original post, with thanks for help.
Have installed SS 7.6.1 and rescanned everything. SB2 still will not find play lists.

Are you sure the SB2 is connected to the same server (not mysb.com) as the SB3 as playlist is on the server all players or no players should see the playlists if the server can see them are they there in the web interface ?

Can you select both the SB3 and SB2 from the dropdown list in the web-UI (hopefully you given them unique names so you can tell them apart)

On the info page check that SB2 and SB3 is on the same firmware, you might have forgot to set the SB2 to auto upgrade hence it only get new fw when press the brigthness button when asked to .
SB2 and SB3 is actually the same machine in different chassis so they run the same firmware.

If you hold the "brigthness" button for a while you can force upgrade the fw.

I have transporter, radio and use squeezeplay on my laptop. Radio has updated firmware 7.6.1-r9468 and I have used brightness to force update to transporter. However transporter still states firmware 87 on both player and squeezebox server settings. Squeezeplay also states 7.5.3-r0 via settings but states 7.6.1 when I view firmware via squeezeplay settings!

is not fw 87 the latest transporter fw its fw 84 in 7.5.6 .

I can't find a never one here, fw for the old players don't update that often anymore.

My q was more for the op , it migth be possible to have an old slimserver running on the same or another machine etc causing confusion

My server (7.6.1) provides these fw for my old players
