After lurking around in the forum seeing many many others having the same problem with 7.6.n with cover art missing from large parts of the music collection I thought I'd today post something positive instead :-)

I've tried a couple of nightly builds but always the same thing, just a few random albums having visible cover art. But just now I installed 7.6.1 r32969 nightly build. I then did a scan "Look for new...." and BADABOOOM! All cover art is back again! Great!

Cheers!
/Magnus

PS, my environment:

Windows Home Server 2011
2TB all files WMA lossless
- 500x500 cover art embedded in each and every wma file
- 500x500 file cover.jpg (not attribute set to hidden)
- 200x200 file folder.jpg (attribute set to hidden)

This nightly build, like 7.6, also hangs for me during rescan of library:

Discovering files: \\HPMEDIASERVER\Music (43925 of 43925) Complete 00:10:09

Scanning new files: \\HPMEDIASERVER\Music (644 of 644) Complete 00:00:13

Pre-caching Artwork (59 of 769) Running 00:00:27

Live At Gerdes Folk City, NYC (9/30/82 Late Show)

When are they going to fix this???

Is there anything in the scanner.log (not server.log) ?

Maybe you can attach the last 1000 lines of the scanner.log to a forum post ?

Here is scanner log:

[11-08-03 20:18:35.8906] main::main (196) Starting Squeezebox Server scanner (v7.6.0, r32854, Mon Jul 25 10:21:12 PDT 2011) perl 5.010000
[11-08-03 20:18:42.7501] Slim::Music::Import::runImporter (460) Starting Slim::Music::MusicFolderScan scan
[11-08-03 20:18:42.7541] Slim::Utils::Scanner::Local::rescan (163) Discovering files in \\HPMEDIASERVER\Music
[11-08-03 20:24:09.5329] Slim::Utils::SQLiteHelper::updateProgress (507) Warning: Server aborted scan, shutting down

Actually--I've now gone back to 7.6.0 to see if this would work--it did not! Also, hangs if I rescan and requires me to reinstall Squeezeserver--

What revision are you running? And could you please post the backtrace too?

Can you try to enable debug logging on scanning in SBS Settings/Advanced/Logging and perform a rescan and then look in the scanner.log to see if it provides some more information about what's happening ?
