View Full Version : Wimp app... so stupid...

Anyone but me using the Wimp app?
For sure not the developers...

This has bugged me for a long time, but today it really made me flip!

Do the following:
1. In the Wimp app search for your favorite artist
2. You get a number of artists, albums, and tracks. Looks good...
3. Click Artists, and then the artists name, and then that artists albums
4. So you get a number of albums listed, click one of those
5. You get the songs of that albums listed
6. Click one of those
7. You get a page listing the title, artist, album etc...

But how the f to you get that track to play? The only thing that allows you to get further is to select the artist again, and then you're on the round-a-bout... back to Albums...

This is on my Duet controller, and/or on Squeeze Commander. Something is not the way it should be here. That Wimp app is seriously dysfunctional, and the people developing it should be sentenced to five years of using it before being allowed to touch anything but themselves... :)

Hm, works fine in iPeng so I'd say try:
On the Controller, press the "play" button on the track you want to play
In SqueeezeCommander, "hold" the track and then select "play".

Nope... that's the way it should work, and I thought it did work that way, but it doesn't. Not on the Duet controller, not in Squeeze Commander.

On the controller:
* clicking play with a song selected, just "shudders"
* middle button click on a song, just brings up details about the song

In Squeeze Commander
* touching a song, just brings up details about the song
* long touch does nothing

I really don't understand this. Surely the app wasn't released with such deficiencies?

Well, I tried the controller and SqueezeCommander, too, and it doesn't do that for me. In both cases tapping a track plays the album.
Which album is it you are having trouble with? There seem to be tracks on Wimp that can't be played.
Have you tried updating to SBS 7.5.5?
Is your country setting in MySB really Norway (although that shouldn't matter since it worked without that for me, too).

Hm, now that I try this again I can't seem to actually play anything from WiMP anymore.
I still don't see your symptoms (it loads the playlist just fine), just actual streaming doesn't seem to work. It did tonight when I tried this (After your post).

I'm not using SBS, only MySB, and my language setting is Sweden. And I've paid :)

Ah! This is it! Looking closely it says (in Swedish) that the record company forbids streaming of these tracks...

OK... so the app is maybe not stupid, but why the h-k should tracks that cannot be played be listed... they should be grayed out or something and not clickable if they should at all turn up.

Thanks.

I don't know WiMP's API but if it's similar to Spotify's (which has this problem, too), it's simply not possible to tell before you open it.
