Hi all,

Just seen this released for around 119
http://tinyurl.com/5scz3he

Install SqueezePlayer from the Android market and you've got a nice touch/boom alternative.

Very interested in getting one of these..!

Checking the specs... it supports FLAC. Not bad. But the speakers are merely described as "2 built-in High Definition Speakers". When that's your "Tech specs", all it says to me is that good sound isn't the focus.

Looks like all screen and no oomph to me. (And it's more expensive than a SB Radio.)

Yea agreed its not going to knock your socks off, but a good garden/kitchen player contender.

Will likely get one when its out for a play

I must say android is starting to get interesting but I do love my SBs including the Radio. I'd be surprised if those speakers are up to much. My radio sounds very pleasing.

SQ in the Radio is amazing for such a small plastic box.
So who is going to take one for the team and check out one of these things?! can it be made into a Boom replacement

I saw this too.

My thoughts. I don't want a DLNA-only audio player. I'm very happy with the richness of squeezebox for audio and specifically I like the central config/integration for the mysqueezebox.com services. I certainly WOULD like the ability to run other apps on a similar radio/boom/touch hybrid device.

Looking at the archos, It sure looks like it's got a camera built-in...

Imagine all the other cool things you could do if your 'squeezebox' could run android apps including skype, hulu, netflix... oh, and you could throw in a google TV client and I might just use find a use for it.

I'd be very interested in an android-based radio successor with stereo, similar battery, and a large touch display... I'd probably buy SIX.

With a built-in camera, in addition to skype, you could do local video chat, baby monitor, security cameras...

Hi Ross,

not sure if you saw the bit in my original post, if I got this I'd run it as a squeezebox, not as a replacement.

As its Android you can install the squeezeplay app, then the box itself becomes another SB player on your network, thats the bit I'm interested in!

cheers

I'd like to hear how well it works and sounds. Could definitely use a cheaper Touch alternative for second room

These are random players with no eco-system is hard to commit to... in a long run you will be better off with squeezebox

Does anyone read the actual text in the post??!

My point is that as its android and you can get the app it IS in effect a Squeezebox

No it isn't. Squeezebox is bespoke audio HARDWARE, not just a generic computer running an app.
Not saying it might not be useful...but it isn't a Squeezebox. Neither is a PC (etc) running Squeezeplay.

I like the idea of a cheap Andrid client that can run on batteries.

I'll get one and report back.
