Guys,

Since installing version 5.3.0 of the SlimServer software I am no longer
able to access my player or server settings from the SlimServer screen on my
computer. When I tried to go back to version 5.2.1 my Squeezeboxes would
display that a selection was playing, however no sound came through. I
believe this is because the firmware update that I performed after
installing version 5.3.0 is not compatible with the ver 5.2.1. Obviously,
this presents a problem. I have full functionality of the server/player
settings when I go back to ver 5.2.1, but no sound. With 5.3.1 I can not
access player/server settings. This is extremely frustrating. How do I
correct this problem?

I have included a screen shot of the page that I get when I try to access my
player/server settings under ver 5.3.0

Why is this happening?? Please Help!!!

System Information:

Computer with SlimServer Software: IBM Thinkpad R40

Operating System: Windows XP Pro (With Service Pack 2 [security features]
installed)

Lame is installed on the system, however when trying to correct the problem
every time I went back to version 5.2.1 under the player settings it stated
that the machine did not have Lame installed. I double-checked. It is on
the system.

Thanks for your assistance. I have thoroughly enjoyed this product - hence
I bought two of them for my home. And I am sure this is a glitch that can
be quickly fixed, but I am stumped at this point.

Regards,

David Bonner

if you wish you back up on firmware, find the squeezebox.version file
add a line:
39 31

These numbers correspond to current fw, and desired fw respectively. I may be
wrong on the exact version numbers, but you can see in the player ui under
settings for the curent FW. The FW you want is the Squeezebox_xx.bin file with
the highest number.

for security reasons, the server checks the last page in the browser (referrer)
to make sure only slimserver can send you into the settings pages. This
prevents outside pages from accessing your settings and doing bad things. What
skin are you using? Are you trying to use a bookmark to get to settings?

Hi David,

There was a security issue reported that was fixed in the 5.3.0 release
of SlimServer. In short, the issue was that any web page could change
any of your SlimServer settings by referring to a SlimServer URL from
it's page. The fix was to restrict server settings pages to only be
loaded from the main slimserver web interface (i.e. the home page).

What web browser are you using and how are you accessing the web
interface?
