Does anyone know if the Slacker app works with the new Slacker "Premium Radio" service?

I'm on the free trial of premium. Not all the features of premium work... Off the top of my head, I know you cannot play full albums and you can't access your playlists. I'd definitely pay for this after my trial if all the features of premium worked on the Squeezebox.

Here's a thread on the Slacker forums about it: http://forums.slacker.com/slacker-premium-on-squeezebox-t9137.html#p39934

Created a bug report: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17281

Thanks Sue. How is the catalog on Slacker Premium? How does it compare (breadth-wise) to Rhapsody or Napster?

I've never used Napster or Rhapsody, so I can't compare them, but every time I have requested an artist that I could not find on Slacker, they have added it pretty quickly. They have a forum specifically for that.

Until I got this free trial, I only used Slacker (free) for the rare times I was tired of listening to my library, or when my server was down. I should probably check out those other two before subscribing to any of them.

Slacker still has the free month promotion going if you visit their Facebook page and click Promotion in the left column.

I'm fairly happy with Rhapsody and I like that I can use it on my Android devices as well as Squeezebox. There are still quite a few things missing though. I might try Slacker Premium if full Squeezebox support is added.

Bump! We need some votes on this if we ever want to see Slacker Premium features added to Squeezebox.

Just voted. This would also be a big factor in determining whether I pay for Slacker Premium after my trial expires.

This is my biggest fear about the future of Squeezebox. The music services that I use today could easily become second tier players (or go out of business) 5 years from now. Unless Logitech aggressively adds support for newer online music services (Google, Amazon, Slacker premium, MOG, etc), my players could become obsolete for my use model.

I don't think your vote registered. It doesn't show under votes unless you used a different address from the one you used to comment. When you click Vote, it takes you to a new page where you have to put a check in the box and then scroll down and click the button to register your vote.

Sue, I do get that second page but when I scroll down there is no button to actually register or submit the vote.

It's showing your vote now, Ikabob. We got 6 votes... hopefully it will get some attention soon. The Slacker people say they have already nudged Logitech. Who's the REAL slacker here? :-/

Is there a single premium music service that Logitech actually _does_ support fully? Or a service that doesn't have major bugs that Logitech tosses off as being on the service provider's side?

Logitech puts in minimal effort into adding cursory support for a service, adds a few bullet points to their marketing materials, then washes their hands of supporting it beyond keeping it from becoming totally broken.

When you read through a bug report like the one below, you can't help but think that Logitech has totally thrown in the towel on Squeezebox.

http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17157

A MAJOR bug that makes the Sirius service all but unusable for many people. Logitech blames Sirius and closes the bug instead of attempting to do anything about it, including working with Sirius to see what may be wrong.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. I don't want to see my beloved Squeezeboxes languish into extinction, but it's not looking good lately...

Unfortunately, I have to agree.

I'm sure the premium subscriptions y'all have are important to you, but I don't think most people find the SB interface with such things to be mission critical.

It's outwardly clear they're trying to get by with reduced resources. Wouldn't you rather the internal effort be spent on basic functions, reliability, easy of use, etc., that will enhance market appeal of the product? That would be my preference. I think the enhancements with broadest applicability will do the most to help the product line survive.

Right now, when I want to listen to Slacker Premium, I have to dock my
iPhone though my stereo. Logitech's Slacker interface does not allow you to select albums or review album songs. iPhone and Android both do.
(I know this for sure since I own both.)

Please update the app for Slacker Premium.

since this forum is just users helping other users, it would be best to post this at the official logitech forums (where they read the posts).

Even better is to post an enhancement/bug request. Not sure if one exists, but they would be here:

Slacker Premium should be a priority for Logitech.. Come on...

After trying MOG and Spotify and finding their radio services lacking, I upgraded from Slacker Plus to Slacker Premium. This is the only music I listen to on any/every device, including my four Squeezeboxen.

I assumed that since SB accommodates MOG and Spotify, it would play nice with all Slacker service tiers (it's been around longer than both of the former, eh?) -- but to my great chagrin, it doesn't. Boo.

I voted for the bug, and wanted to chime in here to ask everybody, even those of you who could care less about Slacker, to vote for:

http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17281

Please?

Thank you,
-Don

Finally some interest in bug request! Anyone here able to answer Michael's question at bugzilla page?

I responded to it...

Basically the Library provided a mechanism to save favorite songs for easy on-demand listening in the future (for an individual song only). Since Slacker now supports the creation of playlists, they decided to remove the Library functionality from their own player interfaces. Many have asked for its return (it's easier to browse your own library than it is to constantly search for an artist or song that you want to hear, right?), but Slacker doesn't seem to be interested in bringing it back to their players.
