View Full Version : Softsqueeze full screen

Richard,
In that case it's almost working as expected!
I don't have any album art, so I'm not expecting to see any, but the
playlist is 'missing'.
i.e. the whole middle of the screen is blank.

I checked and the XML skin is available in a browser
(http://localhost:9000/xml/ ?)

James

Subject: [slim] SlimServer 5.3.0 has been released.

James,

In the fullscreen mode you should see the slim devices skinned
Softsqueeze at the top of the screen, the horizontal remote control at
the bottom, album art on the left and a playlist on the right. The
fullscreen mode is designed to work in 600 x 800, that was the best
resolution for including all the elements displayed without too much
wasted space. This also seemed best for viewing Softsqueeze from a
distance, which is typically how I imagined this mode would be used.
Unfortunately Java only supports fullscreen mode on the primary display
(hence it jumping monitors), and also only for Windows and Macs.

Softsqueeze uses the slimserver xml skin to read the playlist and album
art information, maybe you have a firewall blocking port 9000 or you run

the slimserver on a different port? This should work over the
Softsqueeze ssh connection, but to be honest I have not tried it like
that yet. The album art and playlist will be available soon as extra
windows in the normal mode, I am just waiting on the graphics at the
moment.

Oh, and the release notes failed to mention that this feature was still
experimental! Once you have it working feedback is appreciated.

Regards,
Richard

And, as noted elsewhere, I just get a 'Signal Out of Range' on my monitor
and have to stop the app via Taskman. What's worse is that it tries to run
in full screen mode every time!
Help - what settings file do I delete to get SoftSqueeze to styart in
'default' mode?

I can't get the command line to run at all, probably a Path problem.
Is there any other way?
I've found the SoftSqueeze registry defaults (under Java) - but I don't know
what to change?

Richard,

I dont have any coverart, but I doo see somewhat of a playlist on the right
hand side. When my playlist is more than 10 or 15 songs there is no scoll
there or anything, Just some green text there with some song names. I dont
believe I am seeing what is intended because as is it is pretty useless.
BTW I would only see anything in there if I launched fron the link on the
server, The local copy of softsqueeze that I had would not show any text in
the playlist area, just black screen,

One thing the is weird is the way that the full screen cones up like another
"remote" and sits on top of the player window you lanched it from. This is
kinda messy, if thery launch full screen mode, all other view should no
longer be there in my opinion.

Anthony,

Sorry to disappoint but at the playlist you get at the moment is
intended to be like that. However this will improve soon providing a
scrollable list and it will be combined with a playlist search and
browse function. The full screen should, as it says take up the full
screen. This is not supported by Java on Linux, but should work OK and
WinXP and OSX. What operating system are you using?

Regards,
Richard

I am running xp, I do run an odd resolution (1200X1600) portrait (tall
screen) The "Full Screen" I get is a window about 800X600 that is black, I
can move it around and stuff if I grab the player underneath.

Hope this helps... Thanks for the great app!

-Anthony
