Ubuntu 10.10, installed squeezeplay. When I start it, I get messages about
an unsuppored image format and the on screen display is garbled. How is
this fixed?

I have the same problem with a garbled onscreen display on Ubuntu 10.10. It looks as if each line of text is repeated several times, but shifted to the right each time.

I installed using the image squeezeplay_7.6.0~9426_all.deb.

The same version works perfectly on my MacBook Pro, installed from SqueezePlay-7.6.0r9426.dmg

Yep, that's it. Anyone out there, any fixes?

I tried to compile from source, but ran into difficulties.

Lots of info here: http://www.jfwhome.com/2009/11/22/compiling-squeezeplay-on-linux-ubuntu-amd64/

But it's too complicated for me to understand. The second-last post on that thread is from someone who got it working in 10.10. I've emailed him to ask for the tarball.

Will let you know if it works.

Note that some people use Wine and the Windows squeezeplay.

I have been swamped with work an unable to devote any time to this (though
still very interested). Please do keep me posted...
