I have a new SonyEricsson Xperia Arc with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The new controller app doesn't show up in Adroid Market and if I select the Device Compatibility on market.android.com (via browser) it does not show up either. Any reason for this? It should work with Android >= 2.1
BTW: My phone is located in Iceland. Is the app not available everywhere?

Thanks,
-S

Hmm... that's interesting: there's no checkbox for Iceland in the market. But there's an "All Locations" entry, which reads as follows:

"All locations
(Includes more countries than those listed below. As the developer, you are responsible for complying with country-specific laws related to the distribution or sale of your application into that country, including your home country.)"

Alas we can't check this one, as we have to exclude some countries for legal reasons. So I'm not sure whether countries like Iceland can be enabled without enabling those we are not allowed to... quite confusing. I'll investigate.

I am running a Nexus S with stock Gingerbread rom.

I bought the phone SIM lock free in the US.

The device was shipped with Gingerbread 2.3.1.
I could find Logitech Squeezebox Controller in the market and install it without problems, here in Japan on a local carrier called Softbank.

Then Google pushed the 2.3.2 update OTA.
Since a recent device reset, I can not see the Logitech Squeezebox Controller app in the market any more. :(

It should be available in Japan, right, as it was some weeks ago when i installed it to my 2.3.1 rom.

I read somewhere on the web, that Google messed something up with new rom releases not showing all apps in the market.
Word has it, that apps which have the "copy protection" setting enabled do not show up on 2.3.2 roms.

I can not confirm is this is right, as I am not an app developer myself.

I "copy protection" enabled for Logitech Squeezebox Controller?
Could you disable it, to check if the app shows up for my device, then.

Thanks and regards,
A. Rossband

Just wanted to ask... how did you get it in Japan? Because it's the very
country why we can't enable the "all locations" checkbox. Logitech doesn't
own the "Logitech" brand in Japan, thus the app would need to be
re-branded to "Logicool" for the Japanese market.

We don't use the copy protection. But the app indeed should _not_ be
available in Japan. As you had bought your device in the US, maybe it
somehow still was registered outside Japan before the update?

I travel to Germany on business every 3-4 month, and use a pre-paid SIM card on one of the local providers.
I think this is where I was able to install the app initially.

What kind of "legal bullshit" is this "re-branding the app first"?
I imported the LOGITECH! Sqeezebox Boom from Germany to Japan, so that I can listen to all my favorite German radio streams.

I have a remote control for Light, Toaster, Toilet, ..., (as usual in Japan), but to change the volume of my Squeezebox alarm I have to get out of bed!?! :(

I beg you, please find a simple solution to make this app available to me (e.g. send me a link to the apk file).
I personally don't care if it is branded Logitech or Logicool. And I won't tell my Japanese friends, I promise.

Thanks and regards,
A. Rossband

How about using SqueezeCommander or one of the other native apps (some are even free). Are all of those not available in Japan?

There's a company called Logitech in Japan which has nothing to do with this Logitech. Consider it BS, but they've been there before us. Bad luck. http://logitech.co.jp/ won't sell you a Squeezebox :-P

The "BS comment" was nothing against you. I know there are rules, but that this Japanese Logitech company cares about an Android app branded Logitech insteadd of Logicool!?!

The question about how I can get your nice app is still open.

Hi Michael.
It seems they have added Iceland (just recently).

Would it be possible to check the Iceland box?

Best regards,
