View Full Version : Where is Softsqueeze headed?

The MCE remote actually performs on the OS level and
can be used with ANY app provided shortcut keys are
mapped to specific functions. You can verify this with
a MCE remote by starting iTunes and using the MCE
remote to control it (i.e., PLAY, FF, REW, etc.). If
SoftSqueeze can have its functions mapped to keyboard
shortcuts, then there is no need to mess with IR codes
etc. Maybe peeking at the iTunes shortcuts in the help
menu can be a guide to accomplishing this.

PLAY = spacebar (as with any mac/QuickTime app)
Next song in list = Right Arrow
Prev song in list = left arrow
Increase volume = Control + Up arrow
decrease vol = Control + Down arrow
Mute = Control + SHIFT + Down Arrow

If softSqueeze can map those keyboard shortcuts to the
app, then there is no need for special mapping of IR
codes etc when using MCE remote

OK, that should be easy then :).

Softsqueeze currently supports the keyboard shortcuts listed at
http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/faq.html#shortcuts. I'll also include
the shortcuts below in a future release.

Regards,
Richard

Richard,

I think it would be great to include all the SoftSqueeze documentation
along with SlimServer.

What do you think of adding more info to the SoftSqueeze help page?

Dean,

Sounds like a good plan. I'll add it to the todo list.

Regards,
Richard
