Hi

After years of using Softsqueeze I'm hoping that Squeezeplay will provide better sync with the 3xSB and 1xBoom however when I run SqueezePlay and go into My Music it says "Download the SBS from...".

I always need to enter the IP address of SBS on the clients rather than them auto-detecting; any thoughts on how to get SP working?

Thanks

Firewall port 3483 tcp and udp not only on the server machine but also on the client PC where squeezeplay is running .

The automatic discovery is a broadcast on port 3483 udp

Thanks for your reply.

All TCP/IP filtering on the W2K3 machine is disabled and the firewall on the PC is also switched off - also I have to type in the IP address on my SBs rather than them auto-detecting...

Is there a tool which emulates the broadcast so that I can see where it is getting to?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

If all your hardware players are wireless DHCP and your modem is also running a DHCP server, you might have two networks. Be sure you only have one device passing-out IP's (Usually your modem is the best choice and you should turn-off DHCP in your wireless router.)

P

You may have got a bad Squeezeplay so uninstall and download/reinstall would be the first thing I would try.

You can improve the performance of Softsqueeze by using the MP3 plugin as the audio decoder:

Thanks - I've tried SP on two different machines which are both fixed IP and not DHCP. DHCP is running on the router and not on W2K3 Server and there is def only one DHCP server.

Have un/installed and still the same issue.

Does the SB client send out a broadcast which the SBS listens for or does SBS send out a regular broadcast? Assuming the former do you know of a tool which could help debug?

Thanks

IIRC the SBS server broadcasts a message telling the client the IP address of the server.

I can't remember if the server uses broadcast or multicast but often the problem is the firewall is set up to open a port but at the same time block broadcast/multicast on the port.

First check firewall if you can enable logging of all packets/ message that are blocked/discarded and then look at firewall log.

Something like Wireshark will allow you to see what packets are being sent/received.

Thanks for replying.

Using the excellent SqueezePad as the client, I can see the UDP broadcast getting to the W2K3's NIC using Wireshark but Squeezebox Server is not responding. My assumption is that something is blocking the broadcast message reaching SBS and as such it is not responding - of course it may be responding and the outgoing message is being blocked.

There is no third party firewall software on the box and TCP/IP Filtering is disabled. If I try to open Windows Firewall it says it can't because another program is using ipnat.sys (I don't have NAT enabled in RRAS).

Try the command "net stop ipnat" from a command prompt.

Hi

I'd tried that - says that it does not exist as an installed service....

Use Process Explorer ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 ) and find out what process is using ipnat.sys

You should also reboot windows as sometimes files remained cached and marked in use even though the owning process has been stopped.

Got an odd problem here.

-Squeezeplay used to work perfectly on this PC. Now it cannot connect to any libraries, even the SBS running on the same PC.
-However, it can see all the SBSs on the network
-SBS Web control CAN see the Squeezeplay player AND control it. Music plays perfectly, but Squeezeplay still says it cannot connect!

Latest nightly also tried. Currently running SBS 7.5.3.
