View Full Version : Where is Softsqueeze headed?

2004-09-18, 03:39
This is good news. I have a lovely new Media Centre PC but I prefer
Softsqueeze and my Squeezebox for music. The downside is that I can't use
the neat (IMHO) Media centre interface.

In an ideal world, I would prefer to just "plug" softsqueeze in to replace
Windows Media Player but I guess Microsoft won't rush to make this easy.

A similar interface would do instead - any chance of responding to a Media
Centre PC remote?

.... And thanks to you guys for doing all the good work.

Russell.

Anthony,

Thanks for your interest. At the moment the search functionality is not
yet integrated into Softsqueeze, so it is a little early to post yet.
When it is working it will be included with the slimserver nightly releases.

It is an interesting question about the sql backend. The plan is to
still perform all searching and browsing via the slimserver. Many people
use Softsqueeze remotely, and this is the easiest way to make sure the
application works for everyone. However if that proves too slow direct
access to the database might be a possibility.

Regards,
Richard

Russell,

I would like to add support for remote controls, including the Media
Centre PC remote into Softsqueeze. At the moment I am not sure where to
start, if anyone can point me at the appropriate developer documentation
that would be really helpful.

Regards,
Richard
