hi

i totally agree: it would be very nice to be able to rate music while
it's palying!

i would also prefer the solution, where the rating is stored within a
mp3-tag (probably comment tag)

regards, patrick

1) This is filed as an enhancement request.

Please feel free to vote for it, as the voting feature was enabled some time
ago. Filling the list with 'me too's is unlikely to inspire anyone to work on
adding the feature any sooner.

2) Highly unlikely it will be written to any mp3 tag. There is vocal, and
militant opposition to letting slimserver alter anything of the existing music
library file system. Slimserver edits only what it creates in the first place.

3) Its a great idea, and I'm sure its in the works. Perhaps its slated for
inclusion in the database backend that is in development and will respond to a
large number of sorting/reading/ranking/displaying requests on
bugs.slimdevices.com

WMP9 used to store ratings only in the Library, but version 10 (just
released) now stores the ratings in the WMA tags, though I haven't found
where yet.

Probably not quite what you're looking for, but...

On Windows, you can do something like:

c:\My Music>tree /a /f > list.txt

If you have some flavour of unix, try man tree
