View Full Version : Gotta be a way to fix this

I just seem to be full of all kinds of network type questions today.

For example when I am downloading something (FTP) and the microwave is
run, it may interrupt my wireless network and several packets, but it
usually recovers. When I am transferring files across the wireless
network and the microwave is run it may cause errors in a few packets,
but it recovers and continues on.

When I am using my Squeezeboxes or Slimp3/WET11 and the microwave is
run... the music stops, doesn't restart and I have to physically
restart the music. either at the player or server, no automatic
recovery.

Question: Why can't some sort of recovery process be built in to the
Slimserver or firmware or something? So that when the microwave
interrupts the music stream it recognizes this and restarts, not
recover lost packets, it really doesn't matter, the music has already
been interrupted, but it would be nice if it would restart, and not
just die.

Thanks,

AndyD

Have you tried changing the wifi channel your network uses? I'm not sure
if thes will make too much difference with microwave interferance, but it
does help with interferance from digital cordless phones.

worth a try i think :)
