Unresponsive to remote then server closes

This isn't happening frequently but it's often enough to be irritating. A Squeezebox becomes unresponsive to the remote then Squeezebox Server shuts down. I've checked the server log on a few occasions and on each of them I've seen this error message:

Any ideas please?

Not a lot of response to this (i.e. none! but I now have more
information. I suspect it muddies the water rather than clarifies it.

This error happens when I press pause on one particular Squeezebox
'Classic' while playing random songs using dynamic playlists (this is
probably not relevant but this is a 2nd-hand unit bought via eBay
relatively recently). Pressing any other key seems to be fine. I've
tired it with a different remote and the result is the same.

Pressing pause while playing Music Library/random songs works
correctly.

Picture me looking puzzled.
