View Full Version : Squeezebox scrobbling to Last.fm.

I am currently researching Squeezeboxes as I am close to purchasing one, probably the Squeezebox Boom.

However, I would like to find out if it is possible to scrobble internet radio plays to your Last.fm account, as well as from Last.fm itself.

For example, does the Squeezecenter scrobble everything the Squeezebox plays? Would it be possible to scrobble Shoutcast radio or similar?

If anyone can shed any light on this I would be very appreciative.

Whilst I am here I may as well ask, can the Squeezebox stream Spotify? I have a premium account at the moment, however I am pretty sure this is not possible.

Thanks, Ruairidh.

Yes, Squeezebox scrobbles radio... if you check a box on the UI to tell it to do so.

There's a 3rd party plugin that apparently allows you to use Spotify. Not having a premium account myself I've never tried. Obviously this means you'll need an SB Server running and can't rely on mysqueezebox.com alone.

Which box on the UI, Simbo?

From the web UI...

Settings > Advanced > Last.FM Audioscrobbler > Scrobble Internet Radio

Do you mean:
Mysqueezebox.com > My Apps > Last.fm > Scrobbling > Scrobble Internet Radio. > Yes, scrobble Internet Radio tracks ?

If so, I've had this setting on since I bought the Squeezebox (last year) and since a couple of stations' tracks scrobbled in the first few days, none have been picked up since.

I don't use mysqueezebox any more (directly) so I can't confirm if the setting is the same, but from the Squeezebox Server Web-based UI (http://yourserver:9000) you can get to that setting that *should* switch it on.

However... I know a few people have been having issues with scrobbling since Last.FM went subscription-only.

I don't normally use Squeezebox Server but I've just started it and can verify that the setting you referred to was already set to 'Yes, report tracks played to Last.fm.'

And, just to add, you need to configure it on a per-player basis whether it scrobbles and to which Last.FM account.

You can have two players scrobbling to two different Last.FM accounts, or one that doesn't scrobble at all, for instance.

I've never had a problem with scrobbling everything I play, even after they changed to a subscription service.

Of course, not all internet radio stations properly tag their streams so it can be hit and miss in this regard but that's not Squeezebox Server's fault. I have internet radio scrobbling turned off for this reason.

Hmm well I've only got one Squeezebox, always running on mysqueezebox.com, one Last.fm account, and one Spotify account. As far as I can tell I've got it switched on where ever it asks and with the correct username. I'm at a loss for ideas!

I can live without radio scrobbling, though that would be nice. However I'd be really disappointed if I can't get Spotify scrobbling from my Squeezebox.
