View Full Version : remembering position within saved playlist?

I'd love to see something like this. I have an audio version
of the Bible too, and oddly enough, have never thought about
copying it over to my computer to listen through the squeezebox.
Doh!

I've got a lot of audio books that I listen to with my kids, and
I've broken almost all of them up into chapters as the tracks,
but sometimes I find that's not enough of a break. So, we either
stop when we're not quite ready to or we go just a little too
long. Being able to bookmark an audio file within slim would
be awesome.

What would be nice is that if you selected a track to play, slim
could ask if you'd like to resume playing from the point you
left off with. Maybe a prompt when you hit stop (hold pause,
I know) that will bookmark anything that is played.

It may be annoying, but then again, maybe a power-off
would cause the bookmark to not be made, while a pause
then power off would

Jeff - are you going to enter an enhancement into
bugs.slimdevices.com? I'll make some comments there
once you get it posted.

Jeff,

This is a good idea. How long is each track though? We would probably

need to save not only the track # but also the position within the
track.

BTW I am an expert on psalm 119; Blessed are the undefiled in the way
etc. I was graciously invited to copy it by hand on many occasions by
my English headmaster.

Also, two girls (that is, 50% of the school's female population) had
the privilege of doing the entire book of Genesis but I never found out

exactly what they did to deserve it. :)

do plugins count, or does everything have to be a core feature?
also, I believe that is already an enhancement request for several items to be
stored with the playlist, including volume, sorting, and repeat settings. You
may want to have thos mumped together. Likely they have the same solution.

A feature request related (I think) to this thread:

a player setting that would change the pause button to
pause at the end of the current track
pause now if a pause is pending
resume if paused
In this mode play cancels a pending pause if playing.

I want to "pause" the playlist, not the track. Visual indication of
pending pause on the display and web would be nice also.

Opinions?
