View Full Version : SB2 started rebooting

Hi,

I update my server from the Debian repository. Updated the other day
(squeezeboxserver_7.5.2~31603) and since then my SB2 is randomly rebooting
while playing. Sometimes it'll play a whole album, other times it'll just
reboot mid song.

My Boom appears to be unaffected.

I carried out a factory reset earlier and it's still showing the same
symptoms.

Could this indicate some sort of hardware fault?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Andy

A bit more info, and possibly a coincidence.

I have the SB2 connected to my Amp via an Optical cable. I had the SB2
playing for about 45 mins or so with the Amp set to another input. Noticing
it hadn't rebooted, I switched the amp over to the SB2 input and started
listening. Within a couple of minutes the SB2 had rebooted.

Coincidence? Or does this provide useful information?

Cheers

Andy

Well, if it is an SB2, there's always the chance that certain components are "end-of-life-ing" on you. I have four SB3's and one of them has died. it just reboots endlessly. I suspect a bad power component, and the forum members have offered their help but I never got around to going in with my multimeter and testing voltage at all the suggested locations. if you are up for that, you may be able to isolate the bad component.

Thanks for the input, I did suspect that the SB2 may just be dying.

However, some further investigation showed that my wireless signals weren't
particularly good. I suspect the wireless was dropping out at regular
intervals. I guess this could have been causing the reboots?

I've moved the channels on the wireless and things seem a little better for
now, but I'll keep an eye on things.

Changing topic slightly, when I moved the wireless channel up above about 9,
then the SB2 and Controller completely failed to lock on. I suspect that the
Dlink router may be the culprit here, cos the SB2 and Controller should work
on any channel shouldn't they? They're both correctly set to Europe for the
location.
