View Full Version : Slim server by name rather than IP address

Hi Peter,
I would suggest that rather than trying to form a direct
connection, you run it through an ssh tunnel. You can tunnel the two TCP
ports, but not udp, but I don't think that matters.

The ssh client provides the local ports that pretend to be the
slimserver. That uses the ssh client's ability to do dns lookups.

I don't think a lot of work has gone into making slimserver safe for
exposure to internet access, so this is generally a safer way to run,
provided you keep the ssh server up to date.
