Hm, that's just what I encountered quite often these days now
(SlimServer 5.2.1 on XP/SP2, Wireless Squeezebox with Firmware 31) -
annoying!

I usually just wait a few seconds and the Squeezebox will reconnect all
by itself.

Ditto. It's almost like a timing problem / conflict. I've also noticed that
it always connects to the wireless network when the timer reaches 10,
however, if I push the right button the timer runs quickly and it still
connects at 10.... Either way, a manual setup/connect using > always works!!

This is not a bug. What's happening here is we spend 10 seconds trying
to connect in infrastructure mode, and then we spend 10 seconds trying
to connect in ad-hoc mode. In your case it happens to work in ad-hoc
mode.

I've just checked my setup and it's definitely running in Infrastructure
mode. I also have 1 PC and 2 laptops all running with different makes of
wireless network cards and they are all connecting using Infrastructure
mode. How can I see what mode it's connecting in and how can I force a mode?

Thanks

If your access point is running in "infrastructure" mode, and the
player is connecting, then it's connecting in the right mode.

What make/model access point do you have?

Its a US Robotics USR2249. Is there any way I can check what mode the SB has
used?

Hm, that seems to be discontinued.

If it's connected, it's in the right mode. When Squeezebox tries to
connect, it first tries infrastructure mode for 10 seconds, then Ad Hoc
mode for another 10. Then it remembers which way it connected and
tries that first the next time around. So, if it always takes 10
seconds to connect, it's succeeding right before it switches modes.

The question is why does it take 10 seconds to connect?
