Does anyone have any experience good or otherwise of running an Epia MII
1200 based device for SlimServer

I've got a requirement for a silent, very slick looking SlimServer
device. I'm looking at a Hush Mini-ITX system but I don't want a slick,
silent white elephant. The system would have 512MB RAM, 120GB HD and
might either run Linux or Windows XP Pro. What are the watchouts? Does
anyone have a better suggestion? To date all my music has been MP3 - I
started at 192 and have moved to 320Kbs. Would the system I described
handle that. Might it handle FLAC?

Audio is not my strong point - really? :-) - so I'd appreciate some
views - particularly if you've actually done this with this processor
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it's 12000 you mean. I've got a 10000, and it seems to
run pretty well. The MII series have dedicated MPEG decoding hardware
with an optimised version of mplayer available, so that might be worth
looking at. Not sure if you can inline assembler in perl tho :-S
