Having re-ripped most of my 'favorite music' to Apple Lossless (was MP3 @ 256K), I now experience regular random drop outs. I enabled the buffer display, and it stays around 99% for most of the time, but occasionally it dives to 48%, then 0% within milliseconds, I get an audio drop out, then the buffer jumps up again, and the audio restarts (drop out may last 1 sec). With 256K MP3's, the buffer indicator is solid at 99/100% all of the time. I suppose this shows the squeezebox buffer is too small for Lossless files. Should I go back to MP3, or is this something that can/might be addressed in the server software? Is there anything else I could try? For the record, I'm using a recent nightly, firmware 33, wireless (but good signal), and OS X.

I had this problem too - the wireless connection was hopeless for Apple
lossless. I connected my Squeezebox to my wired network, but still got
a dropout at the start of every track.

In preparation for the new graphical screen I upgraded to SlimServer
version 5.3.0b1 and I found that the dropouts have gone. I haven't
tried again in wireless mode.
