Ah, capital "G"...Gordon. That's not bad at all.

What features would the ideal interface have? I guess I'm having trouble
imagining features beyond what slimserver has already. I feel like you'd
want to/ have to be limited to it. But, I'm not being very creative right
now.

Thanks,
Phillip

Well you are right. I can really afford to have a squeezebox in every room
of my house. (It sits in the family room) Most of my listening to slim
server will be done via some other player on my pc. Either at work, school,
or around the house.

I think that the interface to the squeezebox via remote is actually very
nice and well thought out. I can't think of any other way I would implement
it on that type of medium.

As for the PC it is another story. I really like some of this skins that
are out there for the slim server. I like "fishbone", the flash one
(gordon) is nice but small and not expandable so it becomes hard to navigate
(I have 20,000 tracks). The handheld one is nice, heck the touchscreen, all
of them are nice. I love how easy they are to get around my rather large
collection.

I guess as far as the "ideal player" goes there isn't anything magic about
what I would like to see. In fact most of it is already there, but the one
things lacking is a method to easily and remotely listen to the music and
use the keyboard and mouse to browse the collection.

Ideally I would be able to sit down at any computer and without installing
anything open up a browser and play music from my collection. I think this
could be done just as simple as embedding a flash player on the same page as
any of these existing web interfaces.

Maybe I'm all alone. Easy remote access to my huge collection was what I
had hoped to get out of slim server, as well as bringing my collection to
the home stereo without connecting to the pc. I am soooo close to having
both it is killing me....

seriously...probbly only one user. What is ideal for one, is not ideal for
another.
