I've just updated via the rpm to v5.2.1
I notice there is no downsample http entry in the latest convert.conf

I used to use these lines (can't remember if they're ther by default or
not):

# Special for the webserver
mp3 mp3 http *
$lame$ --silent --mp3input -b 96 $FILE$ -

Are they still valid? or is it done a different way now?

cheers

you shouldn't need that any more, as each player has a bitrate setting
available. Look in player settings for Bitrate Limiting.
