Does the squeezebox prefer certain settings for wireless performance?

On my D-link 514 I can set

Beacon Interval
RTS Threshold
Fragmentation
DTIM interval

I don't really know what they do. I'm having trouble getting a good
connection (58%) strength, but I'm getting erratic ping times and dropped
packets.

Brand new Squeezebox, party on Sunday so any ideas or other resources would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
