My Brother and I share the same mp3 server at our house. We both like to use the web interface to manage our players and playlists.

I HATE it when he click on my player and changes the song for "fun". I know there is a way to password protect the server. But if he does that then I cant use the web interface, and vice versa.

Is there some way to pass protect each player, and have a link directly to the web manager of THAT particular player? That way we could both live in harmony!

Sorry about the newbie question, I doubt I am the first to run across this problem, I just am having a hard time figuring out these discussion boards and cant figure out how to search...

Thanks,
Anthony

So threats of bodily harm have either been tried or ruled out?

Seriously though, the "solutions" that I can think of are a bit involved
and can still be circumvented in various ways - weblink to his player
with altered skin to remove player list or two different servers running
in chroot/jail environment.

Hehe, threats dont matter cuz I am the LITTLE brother :-)

Can each player have their own custom skin? I would really like to see a
"server admin" password (that is there already). And an individual user
interface and possible password to their own device. That would let people
use the web to manage their own player without screwing up the server.
Especially nice if at a party I am letting people use the web interface to
form a playlist, sometimes I come back and they are into the server
settings...

Anyone else have ay thoughts on the matter?

These are requests that have already been made, and are logged for tracking. no
current eta on when they will be implemented.

a workaround for now would be bookmarking a custom skin, with player and
settings links removed. You could open this is a "kiosk" browser window so
that things like the address bar and menubar are not accessible.
