    SLIMP3 .m4a files problem

    Posted this on Beginners but I guess the visitors have no more idea then me ...

    Sprang a SLIMP3 off eBay a while ago for a good price (just 'cos it's so cool); just dusted it off and connected it up to newly-arrived AudioEngine A2s. N I C E !

    However, many of my files are Apple Lossless .m4a (ripped by me or converted from FLAC by dBpoweramp) and I get the dreaded "Problem - unable to play file type for <file name>" message.

    I thought I'd cracked this ages ago but clearly not. Followed wiki guidelines (I think) for LAME installation but not installed / working.

    HELP PLEASE!

    Running Server 7.4.2 - r30215 under XP Pro installed on Sony laptop local disk D:\SqueezeCenter\server (I put lame.exe into the \Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread folder). Lame is 3.98.3 with Firmware 2.3 on SLIMP3.

    No problems on wireless SB Classic or Boom.

    I'm sure it's simple but I'm getting past this stuff with increasing antiquity!

    Thanks.

    Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it ...
    Server = iMac -> Bootcamp -> W10 (dBpoweramp ripping / MediaMonkey management)
    Router = Huawei B535 LTE 4G + TP-Link Deco X20 mesh x 5
    Lounge = SBT -> Devialet D200 -> Dynaudio Contour 1.8 MkII
    Covered terrace = SBT -> AudioEngine A5+
    Kitchen + bedroom = SB Radio
    Garage = SB2 -> Rotel RA820BX2 -> MA252
    Storage = SB3 + SlimP3
    iOS control = iPeng / SqueezePad; Android = SqueezeCommander;

    Solved!

    After the onslaught of helpful suggestions and a full reinstall of the server software I turned once more to my old friend Google and finally found the answer. Lame needs to go into the C:\Windows folder to work, rather than the ...\server\Bin folder as originally suggested.

    Why? I give in!

      I know it's a late reply, but congrats on getting it figured out. I am also on the lookout for a SLIMP3 for the same reason you specified. (Because it would be cool:-))
      Take care!
