Stuart
do let me know if you find out how to read set the
current brightness of a player, I tried this and had
to resort to the following.
Send button brightness down 5 times ( to ensure )
the display brightness was right down and then sending
Brightness up n times to set the required level.
I am doing this in cron scripts to set the brightness
down at night (at request of my Wife).
The poweronbrightness and poweroffbrightness do not seem
to affect the brightness immediately, only what happens when to
switch on or off.
So I am still interested in any way to read/set the
absolute current display brightness.
