I was just listening to Kerrang! Radio (based in Birmingham, UK) through my Boom when I heard an advert for the Squeezebox Radio, voiced by Tony Blackburn. That's the first time I've ever heard any radio advertising for Squeezeboxes (and I've never seen any on TV either).

The ad is driving people to logitech.com and the advert series is playable on the Radio's page (http://squeezeboxradio.logitech.com/?WT.ac=ps|6722|uk_squeezebox|hp). The site even has a PDF list of stores where you can get a live demo. Could this be a positive indication of Logitech's commitment to the SB brand using a well known UK radio personality to front the advertising campaign?

They have also been running the ad, for several days, on Absolute Radio.

Tony Blackburn's still alive??
How about his dog (Marmaduke, wasn't it?)?

The dog was "Arnold"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/established1967/feature/cartplayer.shtml
Arnold is in 3rd column (Flash app) - click it and then press the green button.
Click the same cartridge to remove it.
Lots of other old jingles there as well

I was at the Tottenham Court Road branch of PC World last week. I didn't see any live demos. They'd even taken their display Squeezebox Boom off the shelf.

That mirrors my experience at PC World in Reading when I first heard about the live demos. Not a Squeezebox Radio in site in the whole store, let alone a live demo...

No idea about live demos and display models, but PC World in sunny (ha!) Peterborough, UK, had Boom, Radio and Duet boxed and ready for purchase yesterday. They've now got one less Boom :-)

Also, and this surprised me coz it's been years since I went in a branch, their prices were within a few quid of Amazon.

Oh, and have the folk who created this ad campaign and signed up TheBlackburn never heard of Smashie & Nicey?

"It's pop-a-doodle-Squeezebox-Radio-tastic!"
In my humble, if I didn't already own Squeezeboxen that sort of quote would make me, erm, buy someone else's product...

I'm sure that they have - and that is why they used the "It's pop-a-doodle-Squeezebox-Radio-tastic!" on the adverts and the web site.

PC World in Kingston is listed as a demo location. I went in recently and asked for a demo ... but they had not entered with wifi details into the device. So I pushed them to get that done - but then we hit the next hurdle ... they did not have any credentials for an account on SqueezeNetwork.
I told them how to do it and also explained how they could have their "TechGuys" run SqueezeCenter on one of the permanently active machines in their room.
I didnt hang around and my guess is that they did nothing else about it.

I went into Tottenham Court Road's branch again.
Nothing on display to demo, although they do have one brand new Squeezebox Radio in its box, sitting on the shelf.

It's scary they promote this and the end stores seem to be doing nothing about it. If I was Logitech and had spent money on this (which I am sure they have) I would be livid that it seems that none of the stores are complying. Can any one at Logitech kick some butts and get something to happen?
