.... Or is the digest becoming virtually unreadable because of all the
formatting code that's in it. The last four or five digests have been 140k
or so each, but hardly any content, just endless pages of tags:
<p class=3DMsoNormal><font size=3D2 face=3DArial><span =
style=3D'font-size:10.0pt'><p class=3DMsoNormal><font size=3D2
face=3DArial><span =
style=3D'font-size:10.0pt'><p class=3DMsoNormal><font size=3D2
face=3DArial><span =
style=3D'font-size:10.0pt'>

etc. etc. etc. anyone got any idea what we can do about it?

Unfortunately, more and more mail programs are defaulting to the
abomination that is HTML-formatted mail. You notice it in digests more
because the digest framework strips out the MIME headers that identify
the HTML parts. This is one of the reasons I don't subscribe to the
digest.

We can encourage list members to turn off HTML formatting. But unless
Mailman has an option to strip HTML, the digest readers will still see
lots of ugly.

Or bounce HTML messages, with a warning.
