Hi, I'm sure I read somewhere that you can upload your music to a site to save you turning your pc on to play your music through your Squeezebox Boom, but I can't find the info again, can anyone help please ?

Thanks in advance

LaLa and other Music Locker services allow one to upload ones ripped library to a site so that the music can be accessed from any PC. I believe the Squeezebox can access some of these also without having a PC on at ones home. I don't believe any of these are free, one has to pay a monthly or yearly fee for the storage.

I suggest just building a dedicated green music server. Then leave it on all year of under $30 a year and you have the control. One could also buy a Vortexbox.

Take a look at the MP3Tunes app. It's not free, but I think there is a free trial period. I tried it out a couple years ago and found it slow and less than reliable. Not worth paying for in my opinion, but you may think otherwise.

I use the mp3tunes app for a few days. The app is free and the account is free for 2GB.

It works ok for me. However, it seems to only play 50 tracks max on squeezebox.... I wish it'd play all tracks.

I don't use MP3Tunes but their website says...

- the free 2gb service is only for PC playback
- a Premium account is required for SqueezeBox devices

Maybe their site is incorrect? Are you on a 30 day trial service?
After 50 tracks what happens? Maybe it's a limitation of the free "SqueezeBox" service you refer to?

Thanks. :)

Huh, I only have the squeezebox for about a week, so I guess it's possible that I am only having a trial service. But during the setup process I didn't get any explicit warning about it being a trial service... I guess I'll know after a month.

Every time I try to play it'd only load 50 tracks from the locker to the squeezebox playlist. I cannot play the songs that're not in the playlist.

Yeah, I dunno, that's why I was asking. :)

Sure sounds like the 50 song playlist limit might be a limitation of free accounts.

Here is the FAQ for MP3Tunes and Premium accounts, notice SqueezeBox is specifically mentioned as needing a Premium account (maybe their FAQ needs updated).

Oh the other hand, in the squeezebox app description, it said "Requires a free account from www.mp3tunes.com/mysqueezebox."

So I don't know which is right. I'll update you guys after a month or so if I still have access. :)
