View Full Version : Does Sound Card on Computer Matter?

I'm new to PC audio and plan on purchasing a SB Touch or Duet when I relocate in the summer. I just purchased a new Dell XPS system and it comes w/ a rather low-fi integrated sound card (Realtec HD Audio w/ Creative's THX Tru Studio PC software). When using a SB product, doesn't the base unit or receiver just connect via ethernet cable to the computer and the soundcard is bypassed? If yes, doesn't that mean my soundcard has no effect on the quality of what I hear when using a SB product?

Thanks.

Yes, the sound card has zero impact.

Yes soundcard is i irrelevant, the sbs software is a server, uses you network the data is made to sound in your squeezebox.

In fact this is one of the points with an squeezebox system :-)
Server needs no working audio at all
