You have two options:

Buy a small switch
Get a crossover cable

You can grab either for pretty cheap. I do this all the time at
my one friend's home - I use the crossover cable, because then I
don't need to worry about another piece of electricity demanding
equipment.

I want to take my laptop and squeezebox out to another location and
plug
into their stereo.

I can run the server on my laptop, but I don't think the squeezebox
will
connect (via the wire plugged into the NIC).

Is there a simple solution to set this up?

Thanks,
Phillip

FYI, there are tiny five-port switches that can use USB for their power
source -- they cost about $40 for five ports. Handy toys, though a
cross-over cable is still the best bet for this application.
