Anyone know if there is any traction by MS on fixing the MSE bug that stops it working properly with MySQL (and therefore SBS)?

My SBS has been running it (as well as AVG 9.0.733 and Spybot S&D 1.6.2) since it became available for beta.. Here's the rest:

Version: 7.4.1 - r28947 @ Tue Oct 20 08:13:15 PDT 2009
Hostname: dellwest
Server IP Address: 192.168.0.51
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Windows Vista - EN - cp1252
Platform Architecture: 586
Perl Version: 5.10.0 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt
Total Players Recognized: 4

Well, it doesn't work for me (and many others).
The scanner blows out at the merge various artists step unless I turn off real-time protection. Excluding .MYi/MYD files has no effect.
Also the Albums list won't generate.

I think this will be an issue until SqueezeboxServer uses SQLite (7.6?)

Indeed - I just installed the 7.5 embedded version (which doesn't use MySql) and it runs fine with MSE :-)

I'm also running MSE with SBS 7.5 using MySQL with no issues. I use my own MySQL DB instance; perhaps that is the difference?

Very strange:

Directory Scan (10080 of 10080) Complete 00:23:39

Playlist Scan (4 of 4) Complete 00:00:02

Merge Various Artists (173 of 173) Complete 00:00:06

Artwork Scan (937 of 937) Complete 00:11:12

The server has finished scanning your music collection.
Total Time: 00:34:59 (Wednesday, February 3, 2010 / 10:36 PM)

This started as an XP Pro machine that was upgraded to Vista B'ness (so I could play Bluray HDMI..)

Real-time protection is On.

When I used MSE the scanner failed 2 out of 3 times. Sometimes it did complete succesfully. I'm doing daily complete wipes & rescans.

Same for me. Windows 7 64-bit, Squeezebox Server 7.4.2. I have to turn off realtime protection in order to do a rescan -- MSE seems to ignore the exclusions list, that's something that appears to a be known bug.

Fortunately I don't need to do a rescan very often and typically initiate it manually -- it's easy enough to turn off realtime protection while the scan is running. Still, it's annoying.

Just wondered if the new MSE client released today fixes the scanner issue and .my* exclusion list problem?

I moved my SBS installation on to Windows Home Server, so I can't test it now, but could be worth trying by those hoping to get the two to co-exist.

My msseces.exe is also at that level. It's dated 2.21.10

I've never had any problems with my systems running msse conflicting with SBS.

I use Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, and Vista Home Premium.
