You guys are so quick to judge. If someone wants VIS on the display, a
spectrum analyzer, etc, then they must really be sucky people who don't
appreciate the music.

I DO appreciate the music, however, I also have a social life, and what
better way to show off the new Squeezebox display when entertaining guests
than with some snazzy new eye candy?

I realize that everyone and their brother has some little nit they want to
pick about what the slimserver can or can't do, or whatever bug or plugin
problem has got them all up in arms. I listen to APX encoded MP3 with the
slimserver to a squeezebox and slimp3 and problems have been virtually
nonexistent since several months ago, after they shook most of the bugs out.

To which I reply:

And that's why I won't be ordering the upgrade... Don't need eye candy to
listen to music.

Hear, hear! That's why I filtered my SB display to a Yamaha-like orange
color. To make it stand out in the sea of blue so guests would say
"Hey, what's *that* gizmo?" The only thing better than listening to
great music is impressing the bejeezus out of a pedestrian with the
gizmo playing it. :)
